A poem for Father's Day (2011)

The Father's day and by that time there are many moms and some children, who are usually little ones, who buy or give a gift to parents accompanied by a writing.

Many poems run online that can serve this purpose and I wanted to join the cause by contributing my grain of sand with a poem for Father's Day.

It is not that I am going to give it to mine, but it would be something like the poem that I would like someday to receive from my children. Something like a thank you, because although the "thanks" and "I love you" are understood in a relationship between parents and children, saying it from time to time (and listening to it) makes us "gain weight" hundreds of kilos at once.

Thanks Dad

Thanks dad, for the hundreds of kisses you left on my temple,

Thanks dad, for the ones you gave me before I left,
thanks for the kisses that came when something went wrong,
Thank you for those who made me feel good.

Thanks dad, for being on time when I was going to fall,

for hugging me when you didn't arrive and started crying,
For drying my tears and kissing me again
and thanks for helping me stay on my feet.

Thanks again for learning a hundred songs,

for doing with me what you sometimes deny, dancing,
for having that patience that you would never believe you could get
and for understanding me and my changing emotions.

Thank you dad, for making me feel between cottons and breezes,

for understanding that your dark circles will not be eternal,
for putting off so many things waiting for it to grow
and for showing me what life is close to your smiles.

Thank you for teaching me what is good and what is evil,

Thank you for giving in to learn to give,
for respecting me and teaching me to respect
and thanks for teaching me what freedom is.

For all this thanks dad, I love you.

Happy Father's Day.
