Toy makers rely on public opinion to choose the best summer toys

If very recently we have celebrated the 'right to play' today we anticipate that in a few days Madrid will host the first edition of the Toy Festival: it will be on June 19 at 18.30 at the Häagen Dazs Theater. The initiative, which aims to become an annual event, is promoted by the Spanish Association of Toy Manufacturers (AEFJ) and its main objectives are to sensitize society about the importance of play for child development and recognize the work of the toy sector Spanish for children to smile, learn and have fun.

The best toys of the summer will be recognized at the gala, with the public in charge of deciding which toys will be raised with this recognition through a vote that has already begun on the Toy Festival website and on the Facebook page. Participants in these votes will be able to win 100 double tickets to attend the live event and eight toy packs composed of the finalists, which will be decided from June 4. The toys awarded at the gala will be available from June 21 and until July 8 at the Toy Festival, a campaign to which large surfaces, great specialists and toy retailers from all over Spain have joined.

José Antonio Pastor, president of the AEFJ, explains: “the Toy Festival is an initiative that we intend to strengthen over time on an annual basis, in which we want to highlight the importance of toys in our lives and in that of our children. In summer, both parents and children have more time to play with friends of the same age. Playing they learn, experiment, share and have fun ”

More than 170 toys from 57 toy companies participate in the first edition of the Toy Festival in Spain. The awards for the Best Summer Toy in eight different categories will take place on Tuesday, June 19 from 6:30 p.m. at the Häagen Dazs Theater in Madrid.

The prizes for the best toys will be distributed in eight categories:

  • Games: board games, arts and crafts, educational and puzzles.

  • Dolls and accessories: baby dolls, dummy dolls and accessories, and stuffed animals.

  • Outdoors and Vehicles: balls, kites, sports toys, bicycles and the like; Car tracks, miniature vehicles, cars and airplanes with radio control.

  • Imitation home and environment: kitchens, supermarkets, costumes, toy weapons and models.

Considered the second in Europe in importance, the Spanish toy industry is made up of 215 companies that employ 5,000 direct and 25,000 indirect people. The high international competition forces them to manufacture toys with high standards of design, quality and pedagogical value and is one of the greatest efforts made to promote the quality, safety and responsible communication of their products
  • Building.

  • Early childhood: for children up to three years.

  • Action figures.

  • Electronic toys.

The event will have its own red carpet as a walk of the fame of the toy and in addition to the awards ceremony, it will feature the performance of the children's group of the moment, Cantajuego. In the words of the president of the AEFJ 'These awards are also a recognition for those manufacturers who work for children to smile, have fun and learn'.
