MuMo, the mobile museum that brings contemporary art to children

I could find in your city in the next months a truck with a big red rabbit on top. Is about MuMo, the mobile museum that brings contemporary art to children, which collects the work of 18 artists and will travel up to 12,000 kilometers in its three years of route around the world.

When it is "deployed" as a Transformer we find 45 square meters of exhibition that in Spain will cover 1,300 kilometers through 40 towns in Catalonia, Aragon, Castile and León, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid and Galicia until January 2015, to surprise more of 7,500 children.

The MuMo has an unpublished work by Spanish artist Miquel Barceló and other artists like Daniel Buren, Maurizio Cattelan, John Baldessari, Florence Doléac, Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Pierre Huyghe ...

Where can we see it? In squares and schoolyards, for free. The purpose is to bring the smallest to this contemporary art so spectacular, colorful and surprising: paintings, sculptures, multimedia installations, videos ... Because not everything is "seriousness" in art, not everything is museums of 'look at me and do not touch me '.

The project of French origin has been designed by curator Ingrid Brochard and has in Spain the collaboration of “sedentary museums” such as MACBA in Barcelona, MATADERO Madrid, the National Sculpture Museum of Valladolid and MARCO de Vigo.

In addition, it has the support of the Spanish Commission of UNESCO, the Network of Associated Schools of UNESCO, the French Alliance, the French Institute and the International Movement ATD Fourth World.

At this time the MuMo is in Aragon (Caspe, Alfajarín, San Juan de Mozarrifar, Zaragoza, La Muela, Calatorao, Morata de Jalón, Altribute, Calatayud, Ariza ...); In December we will see it in Castilla-La Mancha (Arcos del Jalón, Medinaceli, Torija, Guadalajara, Azuqueca de Henares) and Madrid.

Looking ahead to January, MuMo will be in Castilla y León (Aranda de Duero, Valladolid, Toro, Zamora, Benavente, Camarzana de Tera, Puebla de Sanabria) and Galicia (Verin, Ourense, Vigo). Here you can see the full program.

I've been browsing for the works that can be seen in the itinerant museum of contemporary art and I am sure that children will enjoy them. We hope that if you have the opportunity to see them with your children, you will tell us the experience. A pity that does not happen near where I am ...
