Say yes to breastfeeding in Mexico (and anywhere else)

In Mexico, the average exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life is only 14.4%, the lowest in Latin America, along with the Dominican Republic. Thus UNICEF Mexico is doing a job promoting the benefits of breastfeeding at different levels.

For example, through a national campaign called "Say yes to breastfeeding" one of whose actions we have already mentioned: this controversial video in which a mother is insulted for breastfeeding in the street. Now, with an exhibition of photographs in a large theme park reminds us of the importance of giving the best food to the baby.

It can be seen at the Mexican Theater of Six Flags Park, south of Mexico City, until the month of August. There your visitors, along with all possible attractions, will have the opportunity to contemplate different photographs that show breastfeeding, mothers carrying their babies, families ...

The exhibition is the result of the work of several photographers of the Notimex agency in coordination with UNICEF, who demonstrate the happiness of a mother to feed her children, as well as the support of the father, which is also important for breastfeeding. Some beautiful images that you can see in this video with the news:

We might ask ourselves, why in a theme park? Well, aside from the fact that it is an ideal setting with thousands of visitors from different backgrounds, without a doubt an entertainment park of these characteristics is full of families with children and they, the little ones, are the future fathers and mothers who will see breastfeeding As a natural fact.

Getting more women to breastfeed their children in the first hour of life, exclusively during the first six months, and combining breast milk with food until two years of age, will be a great achievement. Thanks to this, the physical, emotional and intellectual health of children will be strengthened and that is desirable anywhere.

In Mexico, there are also other campaigns in favor of breastfeeding due to the very low rates we are talking about, also trying to banish myths about breastfeeding. But without any doubt saying "yes" to breastfeeding is something that should happen anywhere in the world.
