"On some occasion I thought that the best thing was for my son not to get ahead": the sincere words of a father with a son with cerebral palsy

It is difficult to imagine what some parents can feel when the child they are looking forward to is born with a serious disability that will not allow them to have a normal life. How to accept it? How to continue? What will your life be like?

The journalist Andrés Aberasturi has a son, Cris, with severe cerebral palsy and opened his heart on the television show "All you need is love ... or not" by Risto Meijide to tell what it means for him to have a son like Cris. His words were so sincere, so out of the depths of his soul, that I think it's nice to bring them here to better understand the truth of this father's pain That speaks bravely.

Cris is now 36 years old, but since he was born he has had to go through all kinds of things. He was born without a palate and had to have surgery to fix his tongue to prevent swallowing. He could never speak or walk and suffers serious health problems (he had to go through operations, infections, almost died of pneumonia ...)

Two days ago in the Risto program, Andrés was sincere from the deep love he has for his son to say at close range what he thinks: "It's a life scam".

-What does a father feel like with a son like that? Asks Risto.

-Love, despair, anger, helplessness, anger, desire to fight, desire to throw everything out the window, desire to continue ...

- Have you ever wanted Cris not to be born?

-Yes, when I was born ... -and rectify- When he was born no, but I have wished that at some point in his life when he has been wrong ... Cris has suffered from everything. When he was born he had his tongue loose and we had to take him urgently to La Paz. His mother couldn't see him because he was with the C-section and I called every morning, and At that time I did think that it was best to be told that I had not gotten ahead.

But not for me. Because the future, its future, was not a future, it was a damned future.

Cris's story is the story of a failure, of a failed life.

- But why a failure?

-Because man was born to be free, then what my son lives is a life scam, it is not a life because he cannot choose. Because if you cannot choose, you cannot communicate with whoever loves you, if you cannot ask for water when you are thirsty, if you cannot ask to be robbed when you are cold, that is not a life.

Those who are like Cris have no choice and I think it is a total injustice. I would like to have a comfort, but I don't have it.

If you want to know more about the story of Andrés and his son, last year El Mundo published an emotional report in which the journalist said: "Cris is how God should be" following the launch of the journalist's book 'How to explain the world to you Cris'.
