The kind gesture of a stranger, helping a mother trying to reassure her son with autism and ADHD

In a world where we often encounter negative news, it's always nice to meet stories that remind us that there are kind people willing to help.

A mother of two children has shared an act of kindness and understanding on the part of a young man, who helped him reassure his 5-year-old son who suffers from autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Gayna Pelling was traveling by train in London with her two children: Amy, four, and Jack, five, who suffers from autism and ADHD, when the little boy started having a tantrum because they had to change trains that day and the waiting times bothered him a lot.

Although they were already traveling again on the train, Jack was upset and began to curse and kick the seat, getting out of control. Gayna stated in an interview for the Huffington Post, that Several passengers began to look at him, so he stood up and told the rest of the passengers that his son suffered from autism and ADHD, and be understanding with him.

Gayna tried to give Jack his ADHD medication, but he started screaming that he didn't want to take it. And then a boy named Dan appeared and said to Jack: "I take medication, so I would like you to show me how you take yours, to which Jack agreed and took his medicines.

Thereafter, Dan sat with little Amy and began to color and talk with her. After a few minutes, Jack wanted to join his conversation. The rest of the trip -55 minutes- they spent together coloring and talking. In thanks to Dan for his kindness, Gayna took a couple of photos and shared them on his Facebook account, where he called him "his hero."

"My God, this guy is my hero. My son has ADHD and autism, and he started having a tantrum. There was a couple that was trying to talk to him at the beginning, when this kind stranger named Dan arrived and started talking to my two. children. He calmed my son and the train ride was perfect. Thanks to this man, they really don't know how much I appreciated his support. "

"Unless you know about special needs, you have no idea what it really is. People simply assume that you are a bad father or that you are a rude child," says Gayna.

For his part Dan, whose full name is Daniel Ball, He is the son of a special needs educational consultant, so he knows what he can do to help a child with the disorders that little Jack has: "We played games with coins, we drew trains, I showed them how they worked. I like to play with children anyway"Dan told the Evening Standard.

The impact of a small gesture of support

For Dan, what he did is nothing miraculous nor does he deserve to be called a hero, but he really liked the reaction and the impact it has had on networks. Perhaps for him it has not been much, but some gestures, however small they may seem, can be of great help.

His action and reaction in social networks, have inspired his mother to create a campaign in London called "Come to my rescue"(Come to my rescue), with which you seeks to raise awareness about children with special needs, through volunteers who support parents and children in public places, just as Dan did with Gayna and his two children.
