Today we bring you another of these stories: a baby with serious physical malformations who has got thousands of anonymous people to bet on him, love him without knowing him and contribute to his well-being and care. Because despite sad exceptions, the goodness of the human being is infinite.
He refused to have control ultrasound
Alexandra was pregnant with her first baby, and like all mothers, he was looking forward to the time to have his baby in his arms. He dreamed of a birth at home, in a bathtub that he had installed in the privacy of his room.
Her pregnancy had passed normally, although the woman had opted for the least possible medical intervention and refused to have ultrasound tests. Even so, in the neonatologist controls he had told him that everything was going well.
Entry week 41 went to an ultrasound that gave green light to the delivery at home and it was at that time when the images revealed that the baby had serious limb abnormalities and it was unknown how this malformation could affect the rest of the organs.
Forrest came to the world in September at a hospital in South Carolina (United States), after an emergency caesarean section. Fortunately, his organs were healthy but his limbs had not formed. He had no legs or left arm, and although the right had developed completely, the bones of the hand were fused and would need surgery to separate them.
At that moment, Alexandra felt the weight of fear, anguish, rejection and guilt. He was afraid that his son would not be accepted by society and feared the future that awaited him.
Far from giving up or falling into a spiral of sadness, Alexandra and her husband Brandon decided to open a GoFundMe account and share their son's story. They needed help to get ahead, and they trusted the generosity of the people.
A wave of generosity
What prompted the story of little Forrest was a wave of unconditional love, support, generosity and acceptance that their own parents did not expect and that today continues to surprise them:
