Holidays with children: puppets in Madrid

If you are in Madrid or plan to come to the city on vacation with the children, it is interesting to know what alternatives there are for the little ones to have a pleasant and entertaining time.

In the Toads and Princesses site, as well as in children's Madrid you can find interesting proposals, but also as a personal suggestion, I can recommend a walk I did with my family a few days ago with puppet show included.

We have attended a Free puppet show at the puppet theater of the Retiro Park within the 2007 Titirilandia Festival, which is part of the program of Veranos de la Villa. Works based on children's stories are represented, in this case we have seen The three Little Pigs by the Arbolé group, from Aragón.

There are sessions at 7.30 pm and 10 pm. Although for some it may be too late, we have chosen the second, because my girls do not fall asleep early and at that time the heat squeezes less.

In passing, he gave us time to take a walk in the park before, visit the fish in the pond and a leg that swam with his eight ducklings behind, which left my three-year-old girl fascinated.

It is recommended to be there half an hour before to take a good place because it is full, but you can barely see anything between the gaps that form between people.

I loved the show. It was perfectly synchronized to last an hour in which the children did not take off their asses from the ground, and neither did the parents.

It was only one person who handled the puppets and made the voices of all the characters, which is a great merit. I also liked the nearby language that he uses and that tells in a very entertaining way the original version of the story of the little pigs. In the video you can see a piece of two minutes of the function where the quality is not supreme, but you can appreciate what he said about the voices.

Another thing to highlight is that you could tell that both the puppets and the scenery were made by hand by the actor himself, which I also liked very much.

At the end, both in this show and in the rest, the audience is handed out a card where they value the show from 1 to 10 and indicate what you would highlight. I am a very generous spectator, I have given him a 9, and to highlight I have indicated that the actor has really only managed to give the show a very good pace. The children have laughed, danced and had a great time, the parents too, which is definitely what it is all about.

There are still enough functions to be represented in the remainder of the month and at 2/9 to finish there is a puppet marathon from 12 to 22 hours to collaborate with the NGO Ayuda en Acción.

There are also free performances every Tuesday at Casa Encendida in two sessions, at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

If you have the opportunity, it is a highly recommended plan to do with children, who in addition to taking a walk through the city, have a good time and activate the imagination.
