Lazy Town (Villa Pereza): the TV series that teaches you to eat fruits and vegetables

Lazy Town (Villa Pereza in Spain), It is an Icelandic children's series that in its country achieved what the government with its campaign could not: lower rates of childhood obesity in a country invaded by chains of fast comics. Lazy Town created by Magnús Scheving (former Olympic athlete), brings the superhero to life Sportacus, that instead of walking he jumps and somersaults that he eats a lot of fruits and vegetables, (sugar weakens him, it is what Kryptonite does to Superman), and promotes sport without moralizing tones.

My oldest son discovered Lazy Town and was hooked on the series and I must say that just seeing it has increased his consumption of fruits and vegetables, to my amazement. For school he has asked me for “an uncut apple with a peel” and before eating it in bites, he shows it and says “healthy sweets” just like Sportacus. Now he wants carrots, chard, watermelons, etc. The television series has achieved in my son what I have not been able to invent the most fantastic stories that relate vegetables to forces and bright eyes. The aesthetics of the series is another point in its favor, it combines computer animation with puppets and real actors. The bad Robbie rotten, is one of the best characterizations of villains I have seen, his evil plans in each chapter end with a funny and funny ending.

Lazy Town is broadcast in Spain on the Disney Playhouse channel and on TV2. Also the chapters of the series are obtained in the Web.
