Punished three hours for not eating a tangerine

On December 2 Lorena, almost three years old, was punished alone in the refectory for more than three hours for not having eaten a tangerine in the dining room of the Nuestra Señora de Valdemoro school.

That day his mother had left a note in his backpack that said that "They did not force her to eat because, although it seemed that she was fine, her little sister had gastroenteritis and it was possible that Lorena got bad", explained his mother Rocío.

When her mother picked her up at 5:00 pm the girl had a wedge in her mouth. The mother did not give it more importance but Lorena began to cry and explained that she had been punished in the dining room for not eating the fruit.

The director of the colleague explained to the mother "That was the way to act with the girls in that school and it was considered correct."

The parents, outraged, have taken the girl from the center. They comment that the girl "Repeat that he does not like tangerine". In addition, Rocío and her husband have filed a complaint with the Ombudsman for Children who has been admitted for processing and the school will be investigated.

School officials explained that “Besides feeding them we have to educate them; you have to reason with them so that they do not become spoiled girls, since in a dining room you cannot eat a la carte ”. The center also says that the girl was not alone at any time.

Personally I agree that schools have to share education with parents, however these educational methods seem totally disrespectful to me.

The intention of educating a child is to grow as a responsible person and able to choose the paths of life, however difficult they will have to learn to be autonomous if we do not allow them to choose something as simple as what fruit or what dessert to eat.
