Babies born during the summer, taller and stronger

An investigation carried out at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom has concluded that Babies born during the summer and early fall will be stronger and taller than others born in spring or winter.

The reason is in the precious source of vitamin D, the sun, which mothers would have received in greater quantity. The greater exposure to the sun of women favors the vitamin D absorption, essential for bone growth and development. The results were obtained by comparing the data of 7,000 British children born in the early 90's and verifying that the average height and strength was higher in children born at this time of year.

In any case, the differences are minimal, because we talk about these boys born during the summer and autumn months being half a centimeter taller than their contemporaries.

The study took into account the meteorological data of those years to determine the degree of sun exposure that mothers could receive in the last trimester of pregnancy, and also reviewed data on the levels of vitamin D in the blood of 350 mothers in the 37th week of gestation.

This study is part of a larger project, known as Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) or "Children of the 90s", to which 14,000 pregnant women from the United Kingdom signed up in 1991 and 1992, and who has been closely monitoring these families since then.

Anyway, we remember that for the pregnant woman it is good to sunbathe with caution to avoid other problems, let's not think now that it will be good to roast in the sun so that our children are a little taller ...
