Grandparents get custody of their unrecognized granddaughter

This is a story that refers to a case that happened in France, but it has been very interesting because it opens the debate on the rights of children to know their affiliation and to remain with their biological family. A young mother had given birth to a girl in June 2009. She decided not to take care of her and not recognize her, leaving her under the custody of the State. But nevertheless, the grandparents wished to take care of the little girl and began a long judicial process to claim her custody. Now, finally, they have won the case and the little one will grow up with them against the decision of the mother who wanted to give it up for adoption.

The point is that, the courts, based on the Rights of the Child, considered superior to any decision of the parents and other laws, have decided that the grandparents' claim was in accordance with these rights, which recognize that the child has the right to Know your affiliation and live with your family if possible.

The grandparents, anyway, have had to get a DNA test that has proven that they were their ancestors and the girl will grow, from now, with them.

Without knowing all the details of the case, and, considering that the courts have not seen any inconvenience in the ability of grandparents to raise the child, I bring you this case and encourage you to share our opinions. I believe that the decision, in principle, is appropriate. That the mother did not want to be and would like to part with the girl does not annul the rights of the rest of the family to accept her and, above all, she cannot be above the child's own rights. What do you think these grandparents have gained custody of their unrecognized granddaughter?
