The Play Attention system is a new technique to treat ADHD in children

In Peques y Más we present a new technique to treat attention problems (ADHD) through biofeedback, where video games specially designed for this purpose are used. Apparently it is a technique with a long history in Spain after having achieved much success in the United States. And is that the video game, which have existed since the seventies, are very present today in the lives of our children and young people through mobile devices, television and computers with Internet access. Statistics show that more than two thirds of children between 2 and 18 use video games. It is an activity that they tend to do alone, even more frequently than watching television.

The system Play Attention take advantage of video games in which you can find some feature on which this system applies: active participation, motivation, positive vision by the child. And is that Play Attention is based on principles of neurotechnology that records the states of attention. Play Attention is an educational training system specifically designed for training skills that are related to attention, memory and concentration.

Play Attention has been successfully applied in hundreds of schools and institutions around the world, especially the United States, Canada, South America and the United Kingdom for more than two decades. In Spain, professionals from the University of Seville actively participate in the implementation of the system, through the investee company Tictouch Technology and Welfare. In addition, Nascia sponsors a research project in the elementary school with the participation of the Autonomous University of Madrid.

The latest version of Play Attention is based on technology Bodywave, a bracelet that records brain signals and functions as an interface for game control, using only the mind. Concentration is the energy that makes the screen elements move. In this way, the user can see their attention in real time, in a concrete and controlled way.

The BodyWave connects to the computer via Bluetooth, completing the system with an attractive and intuitive video game software that encourages learning, motivation and self-control. The system achieves that when the child pays more attention, it reduces distractions and hyperactive behaviors, which may even become extinct. The system trains a set of skills such as sustained attention and discrimination, visual perception, the execution of tasks in a set time, short-term, long-term and spatial memory, psychomotor coordination and social skills.

The company that manages this project is Nascia and uses biofeedback techniques for various types of diseases such as stress, anxiety and also with a very specific technology for children with ADHD. Nascia is the exclusive distributor in Spain of advanced neurotechnology systems, including PlayAttention.
