The importance of the nipple

The nipple is a very important piece to which all parents should pay special attention, it should be borne in mind that this piece of the bottle should be the most perfect possible substitute for the maternal nipple. We must also take into account various aspects that will allow to integrate and adequately perform the function for which they are indicated.

The shape of a nipple is very important, but so is that it allows us to regulate the flow of milk, ensuring that it always comes out at a constant and moderate rate. The exit of the milk and the entrance of the air inside must always be compensated either to avoid overexertion in the suction or to prevent the child from swallowing a lot of air. The material with which the teat is made is also very important, a rubber nipple is a natural rubber with a yellowish color that, although it is more resistant, tends to absorb more water and ends up swelling and becoming opaque, with which you should discard it A silicone nipple is quite elastic, white or transparent and does not absorb water, so it does not change as can happen with rubber. The drawback is that, as it is softer, it is not recommended for children whose teeth start to come out.

Each nipple has its period, therefore it is always advisable to consult with the pediatrician what type of nipple to use at each stage of the baby. We should not choose a nipple lightly and you should always check that it is a product approved and endorsed by the European Union, a stamp that indicates that it meets all hygienic and sanitary requirements.
