How to clean the bottle?

Cleaning the bottle does not have much secret. In fact, it is difficult to do it wrong because we come from a time of maximum sterilization. That is, if someone has not read the latest recommendations, it is most likely that they are cleaning the bottle too much, which is not bad at all, but that It is not necessary. I still find today many mothers and many fathers who live attached to a bottle, nipple and pacifier sterilizer, and as it is not necessary, I explain below how to clean the bottle.

With water and soap

As I say, it doesn't have much secret. It has been seen that it is not necessary to sterilize the baby's pots as they had been doing years ago and the recommendation is clean them with soap and water after each shot.

Now, we are not talking about a quick "scrubbing", but about rubbing well with the soap for remove any remaining milk in the bottle, either fresh milk or dried milk, and then give it a good rinse with water so that no soap left.

And where was the sterilization?

Well, almost forgotten. And I say almost because although I have read guides in which there is no talk of sterilization at all, in others it is suggested, and it seems like a good idea, to do it the first time, when it has just been bought, to eliminate any possible microorganism before giving it to the baby.

Once done the first time, the rest of the time is enough to scrub it well with our hands clean, of course. That is, first we wash our hands well and then scrub it.

And to dry it?

The best way to dry it is to put it all, after shaking it a little to remove as much water as possible, on top of dry kitchen paper, because that way it absorbs the water that is falling while it dries in the air (the outside part can be dried with a clean cloth).

He kitchen cloth, the one we use to clean and dry things before storing them, It does not work unless we just got it clean out of the closet. It does not work because if it has been wet before, if it has already been wet and has been in the kitchen, it may contain microorganisms.

Is a brush used to clean inside?

Today's bottles are quite wide, since they now have a different shape that tries to emulate the sucking that the baby does when breastfeeding. This means that they are more accessible and in many cases no brush is needed. If instead there are areas that we do not reach, or if we are not able to rub on the inside of the nipple, it is a good idea to use them to remove any remaining milk. Keep in mind that milk, once prepared, begins to multiply its microorganisms exponentially, so there is no milk left.

Can the dishwasher be used?

Another option, if we do not want to go around all day washing dishes, is put things in the dishwasher. There are cycles at high temperatures that leave them as new. The only thing we have to keep in mind is that the bottle is not turned inside. If this happens and when opening the dishwasher we find it with a bottle full of water, we will have to wash it by hand also to remove all the remnants of the dishwashing soap.
